Typical Soap Characters
From watching and studying countless soaps, I have noticed that there are character trends within soaps, these characters are now typical within the soap genre, these characters a
re:•The Hard man– The person that no one on the block messes with as they know the consequences, only cares for a few people and does not care about the rest. Overall, a very dominant male. An example of a hard man within soaps is Phil Mitchell from Eastenders.
•The gossiper – a female on the estate that likes to cause and kick off the drama within the estate, very selfish and does not like seeing other people happy and does not applaud other peoples success. An example of this is Kat from Eastenders.
•The wise person – The person within the community that likes to stay quiet and out of t
rouble, a person that other people within the estate turn if they are in need of help or assistance. This can be either a male or a female. An example of this character is Pat from Eastenders.
