Saul - Eastenders & Social Realism

Recently within the Narrative of Popular British soap Eastenders featured a controversial storyline Featuring the Swapping Of Kat's newborn Baby. The narrative first came to public attention on New Years Eve when Heartbroken Ronnie Mitchell who Co-incidentally went into Labour at the same time as Slater sister Kat had sadly Miscarried her child. Although there are many who can relate to this event the question which arose was would a mother so distraught go to such drastic measures as to make another mother suffer in the same way in her anxiety to provide her partner with a child?

In the events leading up to this event Ronnie faced many trials and tribulations with Partner Jack Branning as her desires to have a child slightly grew after her Teenage daughter Daniel showed up in the square after years of adoption and was sadly killed by a car accident. The ons and offs of their relationship lead her to concieve her to eventually conceive child a child but not from Jack but during a one night stand with coldly descended character Owen father of Libby. After returning to Jack and creating and ideal Marital situation by convincing him that the child was his Jack eventually married Ronnie and they had hoped that thier problems had come to a climax until the sad miscarriage of their child.

Speculation had arisen regarding Samantha Womack actress who plays Ronnie had planned to leave the show after a sour response to the plot from members of the audience But within an article on http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Showbiz-News/EastEnders-Samantha-Womack-Who-Is-Central-To-Baby-Swap-Storyline-Is-To-Leave-BBC1-Soap/Article/201101115882421 it states that Womacks agent had made response to these claims by saying 'There's no truth whatsoever in any suggestion that Sam is 'quitting' EastEnders over the current storyline.'

There is a wide mix of reviews regarding this plot within the Eastenders storyline below i have obtained reviews from the same site

Left : this storyline has caused mixed review amongst the public from these findings it seems many agree that society are strong enough to realise that soaps are fictional dramas where as others have attempted to focus on the issues outside of the soap for e.g. Samantha Womack faicing threats by members of the public outside of the soap.
